Jacinth Morgan Collie has been appointed Manager for JPS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS). Mrs. Morgan Collie joined the JPS team on January 4, 2016 with the charge to redefine and chart the strategic direction of the JPS Foundation. She will manage the development and implementation of sustainable programmes to support the overall objectives of JPS in its vision to lead Jamaica’s energy revolution.
The JPS Foundation has partnered with the Vauxhall High School to strengthen the Electrical Installation component of the schools’ Vocational Training Programme. In a handover ceremony on Monday, November 16, President & CEO of JPS, Kelly Tomblin, presented a cheque of $100,000 to Head of the Industrial Arts Department, Gavin DeRizzio. With this contribution from the JPS Foundation, the school is now able to meet the tool and equipment requirements for certification of the students who participate in the 2 year Electrical Installation programme.
Some 30 high school students from the Parade Gardens community and neighbouring areas of Downtown Kingston, have something different to talk about as they go back to school this term. The youngsters participated in a summer camp where they were introduced to concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as a means of addressing a wide range of issues.
